WiMAX operator Tatung InfoComm takes over 197 base stations from parent company

Tatung InfoComm, a WiMAX operator in southern Taiwan, has taken over 197 WiMAX base stations in southern and eastern parts of Taiwan at a total book value of NT$1.76 billion (US$55 million) from its parent company Tatung Company. The WiMAX base stations were set up in 2005 and 2006 by Tatung when it participated in the government's Mobile-Taiwan program (M-Taiwan), Tatung InfoComm said. M-Taiwan, consisting of several demonstration projects, was to boost development of advanced technologies of wireless broadband access to the Internet.
