Taiwan-based WiMAX operator Tatung InfoComm plans to increase its capital from current NT$1.8 billion (US$56.53 million) to NT$2.5 billion in April, with parent company Tatung Company committing to all increased capital, according to company president Don Lin. Having launched WiMAX services in Penghu County and Kaohsiung City, Tatung InfoComm on March 15 expanded its WiMAX coverage to include Pingtung and Hualein counties. The company plans to kick off its commercial WiMAX operations in Kaohsiung County in May and in Tainan in September, said Lin, noting that Tatung InfoComm aims to reach 70,000 subscribers by the end of 2010. Tatung InfoComm also plans to offer VoIP service by the end of 2010 and to reach a monthly breakeven point by the end of 2011, Lin stated.
