The Taiwan government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has signed a cooperation agreement with Israel-based Alvarion to set up a WiMAX interoperability testing (IOT) center in Taiwan, according to ITRI. The new IOT will be the third in Taiwan following the similar centers established previously by Alcatel-Lucent and Motorola. Alvarion previously also supplied related WiMAX equipment to Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Vmax Telecom for the roll-outs of the two carrier's WiMAX infrastructure in Taipei and Ilan areas, respectively, according to industry sources.
