Gemtek shipping WiMAX CPE products to Malaysia operator P1, says paper

Taiwan-based network equipment Gemtek Technology has begun shipping WiMAX CPE products to Malaysia WiMAX operator Packet One Networks (P1), according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. Using WiMAX chipsets coming from Taiwan-based MediaTek, Gemtek was able to win the P1 orders with competitive pricing, the paper noted. Gemtek is expected to ship 400,000 WiMAX CPE items in the fourth quarter 2009, more than the combined shipments of 300,000 units in the first three quarters, said the paper.
