Gemtek Technology expects its shipments of IP set-top boxes (STBs) to top 600,000 units in the second half of 2009 compared to 300,000 units shipped in the first, while its full-year WiMAX CPE shipments are expected to reach one million units, as previously projected, despite it having only shipped 300,000 units in the first half, according to the company. Among WiMAX CPE shipments, Gemtek said it will begin to ship built-in WLAN/WiMAX integrated modules for notebooks in September and expects total shipments of the lineup to top 300,000 units in the second half. The company also projects its revenues for the third quarter will improve significantly as compared to the previous quarter due to a rebound in orders from the telecom sector and retail channels. The company's second-quarter revenues are expected to top NT$1.5 billion (US$45.6 million), according to a preliminary estimate of the company.
