WiMAX Forum to lower certification testing fees in 3Q09, say sources
Harris Lin, Taipei; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 2 June 2009]
The WiMAX Forum plans to cut the testing fees for certifying conformity and interoperability of WiMAX products so as to help accelerate the R&D efforts by WiMAX equipment makers, according to market sources in Taiwan. The board of directors of the WiMAX Forum reached a consensus to lower the certification testing fees in May and plans to announce the new rates in the third quarter, the sources noted. The new pricing policy will allow each certification test lab designated by the WiMAX Forum to flexibly set the testing rates for individual WiMAX products depending on market conditions, the sources indicated. The testing fees are currently set in a range from US$30,000 to US$130,000 per item, the sources said.
