Taiwan market: Global Mobile expects to reach break-even in 2H12

Global Mobile, a WiMAX operator in the northern half of Taiwan, expects the number of subscribers and monthly ARPU (average revenues per user) to increase to 250,000 and NT$600 (US$19.80) respectively for its operations to reach break-even in the second half of 2012, according to company chairwoman Rosemary Ho. Global Mobile has negotiated with an ODM to offer 3G/WiMAX dual-mode smartphones, the company indicated. Global Mobile is expanding its WiMAX network, with overall coverage in target market areas to exceed 70% soon, the company indicated.
