Vibo Telecom, one of the five 3G mobile telecom carriers in Taiwan, plans to sell its 34% stake in Vmax Telecom, one of the six WiMAX operators in Taiwan, to concentrate its operating resources in 3G mobile communication services, according to Vibo. According to industry sources, there are two enterprises interested in the deal, one of which is fellow 3G and WiMAX operator Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET). Because FET is a WiMAX operator in the southern half of Taiwan while Vmax is one in the northern half, FET's acquisition of the stake is motivated by integrating the two regional markets, the sources said.
