MOEA sets aside over NT$6.6 billion for WiMAX development in Taiwan

Taiwan's Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) has approved a draft plan to promote the development of the WiMAX industry and applications in Taiwan proposed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) with a 2010-2013 budget of NT$6.609 (US$207 million). The plan aims to help Taiwan-based enterprises set up a local WiMAX supply chain and develop end-to-end solutions for export as well as establish a joint venture to provide 4G system integration services with shareholders to include international enterprises, CEPD indicated.
