Instead of developing new technologies, Taiwan network-equipment makers D-Link and Alpha Networks are to add more applications to their 802.11n devices in order to help boost sales in 2008, according to sources at the makers. D-Link, for example, is to incorporate online gaming solutions into its 802.11n devices and also to offer its D-Link 2.0 products with more value-added applications and services, said sources at the company. Alpha Networks will develop IP set-top boxes, IP cameras, digital picture frames and wireless multimedia players based on the 802.11n technology it has accumulated, the company said. In addition, the company will also commit efforts to develop powerline communication networking devices in 2008, the company added.
